BALK

41 minutes from Húns.

The charming village of Balk takes its name from the Luts River, over which a beam (in Dutch a 'balk') was once laid, leading to the village's founding. In the 18th century, Balk flourished thanks to the butter trade, a period that is still palpable in the historic atmosphere of the city. Today, the Luts is known as an essential part of the Eleven Cities Tour and as the characteristic center of Balk, surrounded by cozy terraces, charming shops and passing boats.

HEEG

Heeg, located in the middle of the Frisian lakes, is a paradise for water sports enthusiasts. But the charm of Heeg goes further than just conviviality and water fun. The village still bears the traces of a flourishing (eel) fishery, shipping and trade. Impressive houses from that glorious period still adorn the Harinxmastrjitte. Heeg is also known for its lively events, including Heechspanning on Ascension Day and the Heechsimmerfestival.

KOUDUM

In and around Koudum you will find campsites, guesthouses, holiday homes and a marina. This abundance of amenities is no coincidence. The village, which is often considered the 'warm heart' of Friesland, attracts visitors because of its beautiful location between the Frisian lakes and the IJsselmeer. LANGWEER

Langweer, the graceful swan among the Frisian villages, enchants visitors with its charming character. A walk along the cozy Buorren reveals why this symbol is so striking for Langweer, with its beautiful old buildings and status as a protected village sight. From Langweer you can choose from a range of sailing trips on the lakes, or enjoy the greenery and waters by bike. Return to the picturesque village center and enjoy a 'Sip of Langweer', cheers!

OUDEGA

The Brekken Path extends from Oudega; This path along the Aldegeasterbrekken is known as one of the most beautiful in Friesland. The surrounding pool areas are great for sailing, canoeing and supping. Hikers are attracted to sections of the St. Odulphuspad or the Pinepolder, a meadow bird area where the godwit, lapwing and redshank can be spotted in the spring. End the day with a pleasant chat on a terrace in the historic village center.

OLDEMIRDUM

Oudemirdum, the heart of the green Gaasterland, is the ideal starting point for exploring this nature reserve. With the Mar & Klif Visitor Center as a starting point, the village offers the perfect base for a journey of discovery through the region. After a refreshing cup of coffee and cake on the Brink, you can head to the cliffs of the IJsselmeer, nearby forests or other idyllic spots in the Gaasterland.

TERHERNE

Terherne is known as the home of 'the skippers of the Kameleon'. A book series with two boys Hielke and Sietse who experience many adventures with their boat De Kameleon. Situated as an island between the Sneeker Lake and the Terhernster Puollen, Terherne is buzzing with activities, especially in the summer.
