WINE FROM FRIESLAND.
FROM FRYSLING TO WARRELWYN.
You wouldn't think so, but in Friesland you will find beautiful wineries. Due to the fresh climate, certain grape vines grow very well here. A well-known grape is the cabernet noir. This grape gives a beautiful, full wine with character.
There are several types of wine to be found, including two brûswines. These sparkling wines are really worth trying.
Between the vast meadows and along picturesque villages you will find three special wineries. These wineries bring the unique taste of Friesland to life. Think of Wijngaard De Frysling just outside the village of Twijzel, the idyllic Thaborhoeve in Irnsum, and the atmospheric Wijndomein Nij Abdij De Heidepleats in Sint Nicolaasga.
The wineries are beautifully situated. In the middle of the Frisian landscape you can enjoy nature. Choose your wine carefully and taste the pure Friesland in your glass.
Instead of visiting a winery, you can of course also uncork a delicious Frysling at home. Enjoy a nice glass in the sunny backyard of your holiday home.
FRYSLING FROM TWIJZEL
The northernmost vineyard in the Netherlands
Just 37 minutes from Húns you will find Wijngaard De Frysling. This is a charming, small-scale vineyard in Twijzel that extends over 1.5 hectares of land. De Frysling produces white wine, including two brûswynen; sparkling wines from local grape varieties.
De Frysling grows six relatively newly developed varieties: Johanniter, Solaris, Souvignier Gris, Pinotin, Carbernet Cortis and Cabernet Noir. These varieties were specially developed for the Dutch climate and are resistant to common diseases such as downy mildew. This is how they thrive under these conditions.
Full-bodied, dry, white wine
The Frysling is known as a full, dry white wine. This wine has a subtle wood aging and a rich aroma. In the Frysling you can taste tones of apple, pear, stone fruit and a hint of tropical fruit. This offers a refreshing experience for a sultry summer evening. This wine from Friesland is perfect to combine with dishes such as cod, Asian food, goat cheese and risotto.

RELATIVELY NEW DEVELOPED VARIETIES AND TECHNIQUES
In Friesland, relatively newly developed grape varieties are used. These varieties have been adapted to thrive in Friesland. This ensures unique and individual wines. The wineries also use related techniques that have been specially adapted to the Frisian conditions.
In addition, Friesland is home to the northernmost vineyard in the Netherlands, which, despite initial doubts about growing blue grapes in this region, has nevertheless been awarded and has established itself as a high-quality winery on the 53rd parallel.
